Project Value
With a total of twelve tenderers all vying to undertake this project for RNZ (formerly Radio New Zealand), there was a lot of pressure to succeed once CAPE were selected to undertake the work.
Spread across two levels of a building on Victoria St, in the Auckland CBD, and with over 60 Tonnes of plasterboard and 30 Tonnes of lightweight steel framing to be erected, the project proved to be logistically challenging.
Added to that, the strict noise restraints and H&S requirements implemented by the current tenant, meant that the project required close control from the outset.
Behind the scenes, we faced complex services coordination and detailed carpentry work, all whilst adhering to stringent acoustic and seismic performance requirements.
This project created a technically demanding environment that tested both our site team and subcontractors.
Despite these challenges, the project progressed quickly and smoothly, which is a true testament to the professionalism and work ethic of the CAPE project team.
The new home of RNZ provides modern broadcast facilities, expanded podcast, audio and video production capability, live studios, and enhanced resilience for their national broadcasting network. It gives their teams the tools they need to continue creating trusted journalism and storytelling for audiences across New Zealand.

A huge thank you to everyone who made this move possible. Relocating a 24/7 broadcaster while staying on air is no small task. The dedication of our staff, contractors and project teams ensured the relocation was completed on time and within budget.
